Search Clarke County Cases

Start a Clarke County case search by picking the right court, because each one keeps its own records. State and Superior Court files sit behind one provider system, while Magistrate, Probate, Juvenile, and the city courts each run their own. Pick your path. You can search by a party name or a case number, though what comes back is not always the whole file, and it is rarely a certified copy. The Clarke County court docket will show events and hearing settings, but document images, restricted records, and federal cases follow their own access rules. So check the court, the case status, and any limits before you treat a result as the final word.

Searching Clarke County Cases by Name

Name searches for Clarke County State and Superior cases begin in the Georgia Courts E-Access directory. Pick Clarke as the county. Then pick State or Superior as the court. From there the directory hands you off to PeachCourt. E-Access asks you to create an account before you can go further. Once inside, choose Case Number or Party Name, open the match, and hit View Case Docket to read the docket entries. That is the provider flow as it works today. It is not a promise for lower-court, juvenile, sealed, or federal cases.

A known case number saves time. Officials do not confirm how wildcards, partial names, or date filters behave. So keep the Clarke County court you selected in view while you search.

  1. Open the Georgia Courts E-Access directory and choose the Clarke County entry.
  2. Select County = Clarke and Court = State or Superior.
  3. Register or sign in to PeachCourt because E-Access requires an account.
  4. Select Case Number or Party Name and submit the known key.
  5. Open the match, choose View Case Docket, and check any document charge.

Clarke County Case Search Fields

Controls differ between the two pieces of the Clarke County route. Georgia Courts sets the County and Court choices. PeachCourt support describes the search keys and the docket action, and those official fields are what count.

Beyond those basics, the observed route offers little. No date, judge, attorney, status, wildcard, refresh, or result-order control appears in the official material for Clarke County. Do not count on a field the court's own pages never show.

Searching by Case Number

State Court criminal calendars show one Clarke County example that is not universal: STYYCR####-JUDGE. Here ST marks State Court. YY is a year component, and CR flags a criminal case family. The digits run as a sequence. The suffix points to a judge or division. Always type the number exactly as printed on the court record.

Other courts number things their own way. Superior formats may differ. Magistrate keeps civil case and warrant numbers separate. Probate uses its own identifiers. Athens-Clarke Municipal citation format is not documented countywide. Note that the year component may not match the offense, filing, or closing year. When you have the exact Clarke County number, use it.

Clarke County Legacy Case Search Redirect

The Clerk's site still lists a legacy Case Search entry, but on August 20, 2026 its iframe and older routes served up no live form. The default.aspx path answered with a missing-page or redirect response instead. Do not read that gap as proof a Clarke County case is missing. Dead links are not dockets.

When the old route loops, go through E-Access to PeachCourt, or call the Clerk of Superior and State Courts directly. One more trap: GSCCCA eFile handles real-estate and deed recording, not the public Clarke County Superior or State case docket.

A broken legacy route means the interface was unavailable for inspection. It does not show that the Clarke County record is missing.

What a Clarke County Case Search Returns

Expect an index-level view, not a guaranteed copy of every filing. A typical Clarke County result includes the case number, court, style, filing or open date, status, events, and settings, sometimes with a disposition. Column order on the legacy route is not fixed, so treat these as possible fields rather than a guaranteed screen layout.

Case numberCourt-assigned ID linking filings, settings, and requests.
CourtSelected or displayed State or Superior court in Clarke County.
Style or partiesCase caption or formal title.
Filing or open dateDate tied to filing or opening, when displayed.
Case statusProgress label; it is not guilt or liability.
Events and settingsChronology of events and settings, when included.
DispositionOutcome or closing action that may appear; a calendar alone is not one.
DocumentsActions may appear; images can be restricted, incomplete, or charged.

A docket view is not the whole case file. Motions, orders, judgments, transcripts, and certified copies run through the separate Clarke County court records route. Finding a case is one thing. Getting the Clarke County file itself, or paying a Clerk certification fee rather than a provider document charge, is a different step entirely.

Choosing a Clarke County Case Search Portal

Elisa Zarate, Clerk of Superior and State Courts, keeps the official civil and criminal dockets for both Clarke County courts. Superior Court handles felony trials, divorce, land title, equity, family matters, and other general-jurisdiction work. State Court takes misdemeanors, traffic, felony preliminaries, and general civil cases not reserved to Superior. Each lower court keeps its own records.

The Clarke County Magistrate Court site lists a Case Search option. Its live route returns a redirect or access error, though. The official Clarke County Magistrate records route accepts in-person and mail requests. Its indexed form mentions free public terminals in the lobby. Clarke County Probate search reaches marriage licenses back to 1934 and decedent estates back to 2005. Its own notice warns that online information is not comprehensive. Sealed cases must go through the Clerk.

City routes are thinner. Athens-Clarke Municipal Court offers clerk contact and an nCourt payment portal, not a full public case register. Winterville's municipal page sends citation questions to City Hall at 706-742-8600 and offers EZCourtPay for allowed payments. Bogart posts no public docket interface. An official service plan says it contracts with Oconee County. So the routing question stays open.

Clarke County No Statewide Case Search

Georgia offers no single free statewide docket index. The Georgia Courts E-Access directory only routes you to a provider; it never returns a statewide result list. For Clarke State and Clarke Superior, that provider is PeachCourt, which requires an account and may charge for document actions.

Georgia Courts E-Access
A directory listing court-provider routes, including Clarke State and Clarke Superior.
PeachCourt
The named Clarke State and Superior e-access and e-filing provider.
County/provider system
A Clarke County provider route where the court and vendor determine exposed case or document information.
Case Search
The entry step used to find a case before opening its docket.
Disposition
An outcome or closing action, different from a status label or calendar setting.

For a Clarke State or Superior matter, the sequence is directory, account, provider search, and docket view. It is not one free statewide index.

Statewide vs County Case Search

The two Clarke County layers do different jobs. E-Access tells you the provider and the court entry point. PeachCourt then supplies the Clarke State or Clarke Superior search that official support describes. Neither layer promises that every Georgia court, lower-court record, sealed case, or document image lands in one result set.

Use the provider side when you already know the court. Turn to the directory when the right entry is unclear. Confirm the court and the record type first, since a single result may not be the whole Clarke County docket.

Access and Restricted Cases

Georgia's access framework starts with the Open Records Act guidance. O.C.G.A. sections 50-18-70 and 50-18-71 tilt toward access and set the rules for inspection and copying. The Attorney General guidance adds a three-business-day response requirement. A written explanation is expected when more time is needed. A court-file request in Clarke County goes to the Clerk's own records office. ACCGov open records is no workaround for a sealed file.

Under Uniform Superior Court Rule 21, court records are presumed public. Law or procedure can say otherwise. Rules 21.1 through 21.5 handle access limits and review. Rule 21.6 governs redaction, tied to O.C.G.A. section 9-11-7.1. So a Clarke County juvenile case may return only a shell entry. The same goes for a sealed Superior or State file, a family-violence record, sealed Probate material, a military-discharge record, or an identifier record. What comes back may be a restricted event, or no image at all.

JCATS becomes mandatory for most Juvenile filings on February 1, 2026. Filing there does not open a Clarke County juvenile case to the public. Probate itself warns that its online information is incomplete. And a restricted result describes an access condition. It is not proof the Clerk lacks the record.

Clarke County Case Status Is Not Disposition

Read Clarke County calendar and docket language with care. Words like opened, pending, or on calendar describe the state of a Clarke County case or event. They never speak to guilt, liability, or a final result. Disposition means an outcome or a closing action. An arraignment, calendar call, or jury listing is only a planned event, not a disposition.

A Clarke State criminal calendar can display Offense Date, Count, Case Status, Bond Amount, and Bond Date. It can also show counsel for both sides. Those fields supplement the chronological docket and official file rather than replace them. A reset or continuance simply moves a setting. The newest dated entry is the one that controls.

No Result in Clarke County Case Search

A no-result message in Clarke County can mean several things. The court may be wrong. The spelling may be off. The record may be old and handwritten, the case not yet indexed, or the file restricted. Or the portal may be down. No public field list confirms wildcard or refresh behavior. An empty screen, in short, is not proof a case never existed.

  1. Confirm Clarke State or Superior, then check Magistrate, Probate, Juvenile, Municipal, or federal jurisdiction.
  2. Try the exact case number or verify Clarke County party spelling without assuming partial matches.
  3. If the legacy route loops, contact the custodian instead of switching portals.
  4. For a hearing date, confirm the current setting through the Clerk or calendar route.

When the Clarke State or Superior search stalls, go to the Clerk counter in Room 450 at 325 East Washington Street, Athens, Georgia 30601. Or call 706-613-3190. Press 2 for criminal questions. Press 3 for civil. The office keeps Monday through Friday hours, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Mail goes to P.O. Box 1805, Athens, Georgia 30603. Before mailing, nail down the court, the case number, and the date. Include the copy type you need, your return address, and payment instructions. No telephone search, emailed copy, or general docket-search fee is promised.

A court date may matter more than a file. The Clarke County court calendar points to the posted State or Superior PDF route. Confirm any current Clarke County setting with the court or Clerk before relying on it.
